Books Blobbing Along

I love reading. I'm not a big fan of chick literature and romance's, but am willing to try any book. I have read books I don't like, and I've read books I do like. I love YA and NA books at the moment, as long as there's a decent story to keep me going.

Peachville High Demons Series by Sarra Cannon

Peachville High Demons Series

The Peachville High Demons series is 6 books written by Sarra Cannon. Sarra Cannon is an indie author, who grew up in a log cabin just outside of Georgia. The first Peachville High Demons book, Beautiful Demons, was the first book that Sarra ever published, and her story develops from there.

The Plot

The Peachville High Demons series follows the lives of Harper, Jackson and the members of the Order of Shadows. Harper is just a normal girl with a tendency to start fires when least expected. She has lived all of her life in care, moving from one care home to another. When Harper moves to Peachville to live at the Shadowford Home for Girls, she hopes that this will be the last time she will ever need to move. Her life then takes on a number of unexpected moves, both high and low; as she follows a journey she never would have believed to be possible.

My Review

Firstly, these books are amazing. I felt drawn to the characters and that the stories were real. Harper, first made out to be a school girl who had gone off the rails as nobody could cope with her, turned out to be the most important character within the book. The book was written in a way that made me sympathise and feel for every aspect of the story that Harper endured. I laughed when she laughed and I found myself feeling rather sad when things didn’t seem to be going her way. Especially with Jackson. Jackson was the knight in shining armour, which always seemed to be too far out of reach to be able to make things better. If I had to choose one character as being my favourite, I would pick Jackson, but I was very fond of both him and Harper.
Another particular character that I grew to like was Zara. We don’t see a lot of her until the later books, but when you do, I’m sure you will like her as much as I did.
All six of the books had me gripped from start to finish, and when I had finished one I couldn’t wait to start the next book. I was ultimately upset when I finished reading Demons Forever, the final book, but then I heard that Sarra Cannon was going to be writing some more books to continue with the story. I’m currently reading books 7 and 7.5 to keep me going (I won’t tell you about these yet as you need to read books 1-6 first).
If anybody asked me if I could think of anything negative about any of these books, I would only say that they are too short.
I would recommend these books to anyone that is a fan of the Twilight stories as they follow a similar theme in that they are supernatural. I wouldn’t compare these books as they different, but I thoroughly enjoyed both series.

I would rate the series as 5/5 smiles

Amendments: 10th May 2014

Sarra Cannon released two additional stories to go with this series. These two books are titled A Demon’s Wrath: Part 1 and Part 2. They explain to the reader, a bit more information regarding the life story of Jackson, and his relationship with Lea, and the way that they react towards each other in the Peachville Series.

A 4.5 Star Review of A Gift of Thought by Sarah Wynde

A Gift of Thought – Written by Sarah Wynde

For anybody that has seen my blog post from a few days ago on a book called A Gift of Ghosts, this is the next book in the Tassamara series.

Following a few email exchanges between myself and the author, Sarah, I was provided with a free copy of the book in exchange for a book review on my blog, Amazon UK and Goodreads.

If you have read the first book, and enjoyed it, then this book is definitely for you. If you haven’t read the first story yet, I wouldn’t recommend reading this as there are a number of spoilers in this book from the first story. Check out my review for details of where to purchase the first book.

A Gift of Thought follows the story of Dillon, from the first book, and how he decides to try and get to know his mother.

We are introduced to Sylvie, Dillon’s mother, and a practising empath. We find out about why she left Dillon, and her steamy relationship with Lucas.

This book gives us more about Lucas. In A Gift of Ghosts, we were introduced to him as Zane’s brother working field jobs. In this one, we learn more about him, what he does and how he does it. A lot of the books focus is on the relationship between him and Sylvie, and Dillon’s attempts to get them to reconcile their differences.

Dillon, is the ghost from the first story. He is the reason Akira came to live in Tassamara. He has decided to spend time with his dad, which included being introduced to his mother. I know, if I was being introduced to a dead relative it would take me a long time to come to terms with it, but as psychic abilities tend to be second nature to most of the main characters in these books, it doesn’t take long for Sylvie to come around to the idea.

I really enjoyed this book. I found that as it focused on different characters, it has really started to paint a picture of the town of Tassamara, rather than the series centring on the same main people throughout.

There is a hint of romance, and a hint of the paranormal/supernatural in this story. I love a good freaky story so the latter would normally be my thing – however, the romance element added a nice tone to the story without taking away the main fact – that Tassamara is a Psychic town.

The only reason I have for not rating this book as highly as the first is that I found the character of Akira to be more appealing to me personally than Sylvie.

A 5 Star Review of A Gift of Ghosts by Sarah Wynde

A Gift of Ghosts

A Gift of Ghosts is a book written by Sarah Wynde (Check out her blog here)

I got the book from Amazon UK, as free download. I have a habit of downloading free books, but this one sounded really good so I thought I’d move it to the top of my list.

I must say, I am really glad that I did make the decision to read this book next. The story was excellent. The writing was so easy to read, that I read through all 191 pages within a few days (and at the moment, that is something of a record for me).

The book is a romance story, which I don’t normally read, however, the inclusion of ghosts piqued my interest.

We meet Akira, a young scientist, who goes for an interview at a scientific research company. She is offered the job, and makes an on-the-spot decision to take it. She quits her current job, leaves her apartment and all her friends to move to Tassamara – all within a short space of time.

Zane is her boss (and from reading the story, in my imagination, a very attractive man). Zane is the man that interviews Akira for his family run business – offering her the world in her scientific area of study. Zane and his family also believe in areas of psychic ability. Zane’s father believes Akira may be the one to help their family with some areas that need ‘specialist’ help.

As well as being a fully qualified, and well educated scientist, Akira, has the ability to see and communicate with spirits. She has always kept it quiet for fear of people thinking she is crazy, but maybe all that is about to change.

For more of the story, you can get the book from Amazon UK

A 4 Star Review of A Gift of Time by Sarah Wynde

A Gift of Time – Written by Sarah Wynde

A Gift of Time is book number 3 in the Tassamara series. I have read and reviewed books number 1and 2 (click the links to view my reviews).

Following a few email exchanges between myself and the author, Sarah, I was provided with a free copy of the book in exchange for a book review on my blog, Amazon UK and Goodreads.

If you have read the other books in this series then I would definitely recommend reading this one. I would not recommend it as a standalone book as a lot of the characters have already been introduced in previous stories.

A Gift of Time follows the story of Natalya. Natalya is the sister of Zane, and future sister-in-law to Akira (my favourite character in the series).

As readers will already know from previous books, everyone in Tassamara has some sort of psychic ability. Natalya has the ability of foresight, in other words, she can see the future.

In this story, we are introduced to Natalya and Colin. Colin is Natalya’s ex-partner. Ten years earlier, Natalya had a foresight vision of Colin’s death, which inadvertently caused the pair to part company. We see Colin return to Natalya’s life as things don’t happen the way they should.

A young girl is found, Colin is alive, and what happens next is both unexpected and amazing. Natalya realises that her gift isn’t always the most important thing in her life. Could her life change from here?

I did enjoy the story, and found that it got better towards the end. I did struggle to get into the story to start with, I found it hard going as there is quite a lot going on, however, I was definitely left wanting more.

As with the other stories, this is mixture between a romance and a paranormal story, with the paranormal outweighing the romance, making it a pleasant read without too many ‘soppy’ sections. The relationship formed between Natalya and the girl is heart-warming, and makes me think of my daughter and I.

A 4 Star Review of A Lonely Magic by Sarah Wynde

A Lonely Magic is written by Sarah Wynde (author of the Tassamara series).

The story focuses on Fen, a young adult. She lives with Theresa, a lady who 'adopted/fostered' her after Fen's life took a turn for the worse following her mother's death. Theresa has a shop where Fen works part time inbetween studying.

Fen's life is finally looking up, everything is going as planned. She is finally getting an education and has a job. One day after her shift, Fen is attacked after work. She is saved by a handsome stranger, but this stranger gets injured.

Fen meets Kaio. A very good looking man, a few years older than Fen. He tells her it was his brother Luke that saved her during her attack. Fen gets dragged into a world of mystery she never knew existed.

A Lonely Magic takes us deep under the sea to an atlantisian style world. We meet various characters from different cities. The people are known as Sia Mara. While there, Fen finds out a lot about herself, her mother and a few other facts that she would never have dreamed were true.

This is an excellent read. The story flows really well and Sarah has demonstrated a talent (between this and her Tassamara series) for writing really easy to read stories. I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into Fen's world (not to mention Kaio sounds so dreamy).

An excellent story, hope its the first of many adventures that we see of Fen and Sia Mara.

4/5 Stars
